Vitamin C with a Hydrating Twist

Relax and Refresh. Two common words typically associated with two of the hottest months of the year, July and August. With the scorching summer heat and the sun shining brightly, it is likely you have casted out two key health ingredients crucial to properly relax and refresh. These being your hydration and the most citrusy vitamin alive, Vitamin C. Dive in and rehydrate while you leave it to Vitamin C to supply the rest.

Relax & Hydrate

With the heat index on the rise, it’s no surprise your body’s hydration status requires additional fluids. In this case, the classic rule of drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day does not apply. According to the Institute of Medicine, an adequate intake for men is 13 cups while women need 9 cups of total beverages a day.

All three of these beverages provide a quick rush of energy but actually end up dehydrating the body thus, leading to a crash which is the opposite state of being relaxed.

By choosing anyone of these four fabulous fluids you are deciding to cleanse, detox, balance or rejuvenate, all contributing to optimal hydration status, and therefore enabling your body to relax.

Refresh

When out in the sun, your body is enhancing your health thanks to Vitamin D, which is made by our bodies through the action of the sun’s UVB rays on our skin. We find ourselves outside frequently during these hot summer months; playing outdoor sports, staining the deck or fixing up that old sailboat that is begging for another jaunt on the lake. Whatever you might be doing, your body is sweating and detoxing, getting it ready for the state of being refreshed. As the sun brings forth heat, your body requires a replenishing dosage of Vitamin C to replace the cells and nutrients lost via sweat. The National Institute of Health recommends 90 milligrams (mg) of Vitamin C daily for men and 75 mg for women. Thanks to Mother Nature, fresh fruits and veggies are in big supply right now so stock up, rehydrate and replenish that Vitamin C.

Consuming fresh, citrusy foods, especially during the steamiest months of the year, will maximize your potential to become completely refreshed.

Look on the sunny side of your health by being properly relaxed and refreshed through the power of hydration and Vitamin C!
