The role of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (OB/GYNs)

An OB/GYN can conduct   routine screenings to keep you healthy and help you navigate all of life’s changes, from that first menstrual cycle through menopause. They can help you plan a pregnancy and deliver your baby, and they can provide expert treatment for any reproductive health concerns you experience.

The team of clinicians at UHWC UH2 consists of OB/GYNs, urogynecologists and certified nurse midwives. Every member of the team is highly trained and uniquely experienced in his or her respective field.

Rooted in experience/focused on the future

At present, the Truman Medical Center facility located in the Health Sciences District, houses an Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic, women’s gynecological specialty clinic and a high-risk pregnancy clinic on the sixth floor of the main hospital. These clinics will move to a new building named University Health 2, located at 2211 Charlotte Street in Kansas City, Missouri, in November 2020. The third floor of this new facility will be dedicated to Women’s Care, and the clinic will be named University Health Women’s Care UH2.

A solid reason to choose University Health Women’s Care

With decades of experience, these trusted physicians have the ability to treat all types of health issues unique to women, including high-risk pregnancies through the use of cutting-edge technology.

The Birthplace at TMC/UH downtown is located on the sixth floor of the main hospital, connects to Children’s Mercy Hospital via a walkway bridge called the Bridge of Hope. This is important if a mother delivers her baby at TMC/UH in the Health Sciences District and her baby is being treated at the NICU at Children’s Mercy Hospital, allowing the mother to visit her baby without ever having to leave the main hospital. This bridge represents the best of both worlds with respect to care of women and their babies, transitioning from the womb to the world, allowing doctors and other healthcare specialists to provide exceptional care for moms, fetuses and newborn babies. With these two hospitals focused on the care of the patient, this bridge upholds that commonality.
