A Modern Approach to Wellness

Jon Soileau

The human experience is, at times complex and multifaceted, resulting in feelings of confusion or disappointment. Dynamic counseling, psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis can help us to examine how past experiences and therapeutic interactions within the therapy room influence one’s life and relationships. The gathering and development of insight during this process helps to provide understanding which is essential in the treatment of unhealthy personality patterns, interpersonal challenges, and anxiety and depressive struggles.

Danielle Soileau

Soileau Partners Psychotherapy was designed and created to be a relaxing and supportive environment offering a compassionate and relational approach to mental health care. This boutique type private practice is discreetly tucked away inside the Stillwell Building of the historic Library District of downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

This particular location was selected for the rich history, culture, and feel of this quaint neighborhood. The Stillwell building features gorgeous architecture inside and out, gleaming marble floors as you enter the lobby, and high ceiling windows throughout the main offices. As patients enter their space, they are presented with influences of Soileau’s history in hospitality consisting of complimentary tasty morsels, a selection of beverages, and elevated, yet comfortable furnishings leaving no need unmet.

For this reason, Soileau Partners Psychotherapy has attracted residents and professionals in the Downtown area and across the Kansas City metro who are searching for the perfect blend of convenience, ambiance, and privacy. “We serve a blend of successful executives, medical professionals, professional athletes, lawyers, families, and other individuals who expect a certain level of service and discretion.”

A Boutique Approach in the Making

Soileau Partners Psychotherapy distinguishes itself with a modern boutique approach to wellness. The practice is intentionally designed to provide a personalized and intimate experience for each client. The Soileau’s’ believe that effective therapy requires more than just clinical expertise; it demands a compassionate and relational approach that respects each client’s unique journey.

Jon and Danielle Soileau founded Soileau Partners Psychotherapy in 2019, originally inside of The Crosby Building, with the goal of integrating the age-old practice of bedside manner, refined hospitality, and an in-depth approach to counseling, psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis.

Earlier in life, Jon graduated from culinary school and practiced as a

classically trained chef, serving high-profile clients, which included celebrated entertainers and elite professional athletes. Throughout his previous career, Jon learned the importance of understanding the details of people’s needs, expectations, and backgrounds and the influence their experiences would have on them.

Meanwhile, Danielle Soileau was already pursuing a degree to become a licensed professional counselor, while continuing to support the needs of the entire family at home. Danielle mentioned feeling drawn to the field after realizing, “no matter what career I was in at the time, individuals seemed comfortable with sharing the most intimate moments of their lives with me,” she said with a smile.

Jon added, “I caught the spark from Danielle, which is unsurprising as she is often a source of inspiration and motivation for me, and I felt a strong pull to enter into the mental health profession.”

Anyone who has built a practice knows it is an ambitious endeavor. It takes a tremendous amount of hard work and planning to achieve. Not to mention, it takes even more hard work to be successful. It isn’t always a matter of throwing all concerns aside in A Field of Dreams “If you build it, he will come” scenario. The couple maintains that their faith has been a foundational element of security throughout this process.

As labor-intensive as building the practice has been, it has been equally rewarding. They have enjoyed watching the practice experience growth in size to include several newer therapists who align with their vision. Their licensed therapists are board-certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors and licensed by individual state licensing boards. This practice also proudly collaborates with medical partners and fellow mental health providers to ensure continuity of care for clients, whenever client needs expand outside of their scope of treatment.

“We have worked hard to build the practice with intention,” Danielle explained. “Nearly all our therapists have started as interns at the practice, so we have had an extensive period of time to discover if we are a good fit for them and if they are a good fit for us.” Soileau Partners Psychotherapy enjoys partnering with academic programs throughout Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado to provide an atmosphere of education and learning for counseling interns. Integrating counseling student interns allows Jon and Danielle to offer services with greatly reduced rates to clients unable to afford their regular fee, when clients work with our counseling student interns. All our therapists and counseling interns approach patient care with a wide breadth of experience and training, making it possible to offer a collective pedigree of niche mental health specialties to their clients. “We feel so blessed to have each one of them on the team.”

She continued, “We invest in fostering and building our relationship with our team. We get together often, have check-ins, go to dinner, and find ways to support one another regularly”.

A Holistic and Compassionate Treatment Philosophy

At the core of Soileau Partners’ treatment philosophy is the belief that mental health care should be both compassionate and relational. This means that therapists at the practice strive to build genuine connections with their clients, through weekly appointments, fostering in-depth relationships and promoting an environment of trust and vulnerability.

Soileau Partner’s Psychotherapy believes this customized approach to client care has been shown to help support the development of insight into the concerns that initially led clients to see them. Collaboratively, they encourage exploration, uncovering, processing, and healthy healing within the therapeutic process with their clients. This process allows the root causes of client concerns to be addressed so they are not just coping with life, but instead thriving. By doing so, they create a safe space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment.

The practice specializes in providing counseling, psychotherapy and analysis through a Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytic, and Attachment theoretical lens. This approach helps clients understand and make sense of the world, of themselves, and of others, while honoring the uniqueness of lifelong experiences.

The starting point with clients often includes examining their earliest experiences in life continuing through to the most present-day experiences.

It is a multifaceted approach covering various aspects of personality structure and characteristics, interpersonal relationships, emotional and cognitive constructs, somatic symptoms, non-verbal communications, and experiences that helped shape and develop who they are.

They provide treatment for a wide range of mental health struggles and diagnoses causing unhealthy patterns of living, such as (but not limited to) Anxiety, Depression, PTSD/Trauma, OCD, Borderline Personality, Highly Sensitive people, and individuals struggling with Insecurities.

Soileau Partners Psychotherapy understands that the field of mental health is constantly evolving, and they are dedicated to staying informed about the latest research and developments. This commitment to innovation allows them to improve treatments and ensure they are both effective and evidence based.

“Whatever our respective beliefs, we leave them at the door and create a place where our clients feel empowered to uncover the circumstances, thoughts, feelings, and beliefs playing a role in their lives and decisions today. Compassion, care, and warmth are core principles of our practice.” Jon said openly.

“Additionally, we take the time necessary to develop an authentic relationship with our clients. Successful therapy depends on clients being able to openly share thoughts or experiences that may have been consciously or unconsciously avoided or concealed. That doesn’t just happen. It takes tremendous bravery and trust. We honor that with our efforts to develop a judgment-free and supportive relationship,” Danielle said warmly.

And their efforts have paid off. Their team has been rated Top Therapists by OnlineTherapy.com, were interviewed for Counseling Today Magazine, published by The American Counseling Association, and have glowing Google reviews.

Looking Ahead

As Jon and Danielle Soileau continue to grow Soileau Partners Psychotherapy, they remain dedicated to their mission of providing exceptional mental health care. Their vision for the future includes increasing needed services we offer and expanding into more communities while continuing to innovate in the field of therapy.

Soileau Partners Psychotherapy stands out as a beacon of hope and healing. Through their compassionate and relational approach, Jon and Danielle Soileau and their team are not only transforming the lives of their clients but also shaping the future of mental health care.
